Develop test strip for full time
It must be emphasized that development of the test strip must be carried out with proper agitation and with development carried out for the full, recommended length of time specified by the manufacturer of the print paper. The final print, similarly (as all prints should be), must be developed for the same length of time and with identical agitation.
When processing a print, it is essential that strict adherence to agitation and development time be maintained. Similarly, each step of processing must be done with care and regard for proper immersion, short stopping, fixing, washing and drying to achieve optimum results.
After making an exposure, the print paper should be smoothly slipped under the surface of the developer, emulsion side up. Make certain that the solution has completely flowed over the surface without streaking or other uneven- ness. After initial immersion, the print can be turned emulsion side down (if desired) and alternately flip-flopped until the full develop- ment time has elapsed.
During development, the tray should be gently rocked from side to side and end to end to keep a constant flow of fresh developer moving across the emulsion of the paper. It goes without saying that fresh developer should always be used when making prints-and, don't exceed the maximum square-inch developing capacity of the developer. Don't attempt to "save" your working solution of developer. Discard it after the printing session has ended.
