Dry section of the imaging laboratory:

This section contains the following devices and tools:

1 - amplifier.

2 - Contact printer box

3 - Document printer box (if work calls for it)

4- Exposure scales for estimating exposure periods (Fig. (86).

E - Timer timing watches for estimating exposure times. These hours may be connected to the devices shown in items (1, 3, and 2).

6 - Cupboards and tables with drawers for keeping sensitive papers and films. These tables are used at the same time to place the previous devices on top of them. Although it is always obligatory for the photographer to keep sensitive papers in their covers inside their envelopes or boxes, yet it is often necessary - for practical convenience - to take them out to the drawer on the table or cupboard prepared for keeping sensitive papers during the printing or enlarging operations. It may be left like this outside its envelopes, inadvertently from the photographer, or for urgent reasons, such as his having to leave the laboratory after turning on the white light.

For the aforementioned reasons, the drawers of the box or cupboard that carry sensitive paper must be made in a way that prevents light from penetrating into it after it is tightly closed. Many designs have been prepared for the manufacture of these drawers, showing some of them in forms (139-140).

There are other devices and supplies that may sometimes be found in the dry section, photocopying works, or they are located independently in a place of their own, usually known as the “finishing room.” Their presence in the finishing room or inside the laboratory depends on the size of the work and the number of workers.
